When can I register for film events included in the CIFF Streams + Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards program?
Registration for film events opens on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 1:00 PM ET and closes at 9:00 PM ET on each scheduled film event date for feature film events and at 9:00 PM ET on Sunday, October 3, 2021 for both Shorts Programs. After registering for a film event, you will receive an Eventbrite order confirmation email within a few minutes of registering that contains your streaming access code for streaming the film event via the CIFF Streams App for Roku or Apple TV devices, and a streaming access link for streaming the film event on all other devices. Please note: While you may receive the streaming access for the film event in advance of its scheduled release date and time, you will be unable to stream the film event until 11:00 AM ET on it’s scheduled release date.
While each film event must be registered for by 9:00 PM ET on its scheduled release date, you will have until 11:00 PM ET to begin streaming the film and post-film conversation with the director and/or subjects (if applicable). Please check spam/junk folders for email confirmations if you haven’t received your Eventbrite order confirmation containing your streaming access email.
When can I stream CIFF Streams + Anisfield-Wolf film events?
A CIFF Streams film event will be released each day during the Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards’ Virtual Cleveland Book Week (September 27-October 3, 2021), with the exception of September 30, 2021 when the 2021 Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards Ceremony will be available for streaming. CIFF Streams film events during CIFF Streams + Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards can only be accessed by registering on Eventbrite for specific film events HERE and can only be streamed on their scheduled film event date(s) and time(s). Please note, you must register separately for each film event you would like to stream.
Unless otherwise noted, most film events for feature length films will be accompanied by a pre-recorded, moderated conversation between the Director and/or cast or subject(s) and Cleveland State University’s Film, Media, and Communications Professor, Eric Siler. There is no need to register for these conversations separately from the film event or change online platforms to stream the corresponding pre-recorded conversations. These conversations will be available on the film’s streaming page as a separate icon below the film’s description that must be clicked to begin streaming the conversation.
How do I access CIFF Streams film events that are part of the Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards?
You must register for each of the free film events on Eventbrite by 9:00 PM ET on the scheduled release date of each film event. Once you register, you will receive an Eventbrite order confirmation containing the streaming access code for streaming the film event via the CIFF Streams app for Roku or Apple TV devices and the streaming access link for streaming the film event on all other devices. You can begin streaming the film event at 11:00 AM ET on the scheduled release date for the film event and you will have until 11:00 PM ET on the day of the scheduled film event to begin streaming the film. Who can access CIFF Streams film events during CIFF Streams + Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards?
CIFF Streams film events during CIFF Streams + Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards are free and open to everyone in the United States! Film events can be streamed online from anywhere within the United States (including Puerto Rico). A majority of the films will have closed captioning. Closed captioning availability is listed under each film event’s description. All pre-recorded conversations will include both a Sign Language Interpreter and closed captioning.

Are CIFF Streams + Anisfield-Wolf film events accessible for persons with disabilities?
All of the feature films streaming as part of the CIFF Streams + Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards program offer closed captioning in English. BEST SUMMER EVER(WITH AUDIO DESCRIPTION) will also include audio description in English. Some, but not all films in the CIFF Streams + Anisfield-Wolf Shorts Program 1 and Shorts Program 2 offer closed captioning in English. All corresponding pre-recorded conversations will include both closed captioning in English and an ASL Interpreter.
Why am I seeing a message that the CIFF Streams + Anisfield-Wolf film event I have registered for is unavailable?
It is likely because the film event has not been released yet or the streaming window has closed for that film event. Unfortunately we are unable to grant streaming access prior to 11:00 AM ET or after 11:00 PM ET on the scheduled release date for each of the film events.
How do I stream CIFF Streams + Anisfield-Wolf film events that I registered for?
Once you have registered for a free film event on Eventbrite and received your order confirmation email with streaming access, from 11:00 AM-11:00 PM ET on the scheduled release date for that film event, you can stream the film event(s) in one of two main ways:
Via the CIFF Streams App:
Connect and set-up a Roku or Apple TV device to your TV if you have not already done so. Search, download, and open the CIFF Streams app on one of those devices. Enter the streaming access code for each film event from your Eventbrite order confirmation(s).
Via the CIFF Streams Platform on a web browser (we recommend Google Chrome or Safari):
On a smartphone, tablet, laptop or computer, click on the streaming access link for each film event from your Eventbrite order confirmation(s) and cast it to a TV via a Chromecast device connected to the TV.
On an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, click on the streaming access link for each film event from your Eventbrite order confirmation(s) and use the AirPlay feature to cast to an Apple TV device connected to theTV.
On a computer or laptop, click on the streaming access link for each film event from your Eventbrite order confirmation(s) and physically connect the computer or laptop to the TV via an HDMI cable.
Please note: Refrain from changing locations, internet connections, or devices and from closing the player on CIFF Streams app or your web browser mid-film and mid-shorts program as your streaming will be disrupted and you will be unable to continue streaming that film event or shorts program. Please disable dynamic IP addresses and VPNs while streaming on the CIFF Streams platform as this will also result in being unable to stream the film events.
What are the system requirements to stream CIFF Streams + Anisfield-Wolf film events on computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones?
You can stream film events on PCs running Windows 7 or newer, and Intel-based Macs running OS X 10.12 or newer.
You can also stream film events on Android tablets and phones using a Google Chrome browser and on Apple iPhones and iPads using a Safari browser. Please note that you must have “Screen Mirroring” turned off in your settings in order for film events to play.

How do I Chromecast CIFF Streams + Anisfield-Wolf film events?
You can cast film events to a 3rd generation or newer Chromecast stick.
To Chromecast from an Android phone or tablet:
Make sure your Chromecast device is on the same Wi-fi network as your mobile device, connected to your TV, and that the correct input is selected for the Chromecast device.
From your Android phone or tablet, pull up the Eventbrite order confirmation email that contains your streaming access link.
Click on the streaming access link from the email. We recommend using the most updated version of the Google Chrome browser.
Click the “Play” button to open the player and start the film.
In the bottom right-hand corner of the player, click the Chromecast icon and choose the Chromecast device to cast to your TV. If the icon doesn’t appear, unfortunately casting is not supported on your device.

How do I AirPlay CIFF Streams + Anisfield-Wolf film events to my Apple TV?
You can AirPlay film events from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac computer to an Apple TV device. These step-by-step instructions assume your Apple TV device is set up and ready to go.
- Make sure your Apple TV device is connected to your TV, turned on, and that the correct input is selected for the Apple TV device.
- From your iPhone/iPad/Macbook, pull up the Eventbrite order confirmation email that contains your streaming access link.
- Click on the streaming access link from the email. We recommend using the most updated version of the Safari browser.
- In the bottom right-hand corner of the player, click the AirPlay icon and choose the Apple TV device to cast to it.
- The player should now appear on your TV, and your device will display a message that says, “This video is playing on [device name]”. If nothing happens, try tapping on your device screen and re-click the play button.
How do I stream CIFF Streams + Anisfield-Wolf film events on my Roku or Apple TV device?
Connect and set-up a Roku or Apple TV device to your TV. Search, download, and open the CIFF Streams app on those devices. Enter the streaming access code(s) from the Eventbrite order confirmation email(s) for each film event under the “Ticket Holders” field on the CIFF Streams App.
Can I use the web browser built into my TV to stream CIFF Streams + Anisfield Wolf film event?
It is unlikely. Unfortunately many built-in Smart TV’s web browsers don’t support protected content playback. If you get a black screen or error message, it’s likely that your TV is not compatible.
Why does video playback stall or not play smoothly?
The CIFF Streams streaming platform uses adaptive bitrate streaming, which means the streaming quality will automatically adjust based on your internet speed. If your internet connection is slow or inconsistent you may experience problems during playback. If you’re on Wi-Fi, try moving closer to your router or to data.
Can I pause, rewind, stop or re-watchCIFF Streams + Anisfield-Wolf film events?
Film events can be temporarily paused or rewound as long as the player on the CIFF Streams App or web browser remains open. However, film events and shorts programs cannot be stopped and restarted, or re-watched. Doing so will result in an inability to stream the film event(s) or shorts program(s).
Please note: Refrain from changing locations, internet connections, or devices while streaming, as the film will stop streaming, and you will be unable to continue streaming.
My streaming link or code isn’t working. What should I do?

While our Streams Support Team has a good working knowledge of the CIFF website and the CIFF Streams platform, we are unable to troubleshoot issues with or assist with, the set up of personal equipment, technologies, or internet infrastructures.
